Who are the line-up of VIETRF Seminar’s panelists?

To have a professional seminar series, it is impossible not to mention the guidance of experts with experience in retail and franchise market. Below are excerpts from some of our speakers who will participate in the Professional Seminar: Leading from Innovation to Success in Retail and Franchise.


Mrs. Nguyen Phi Van – Founder of FranA Global Franchise Accelerator

Nguyen Phi Van holds an MBA from Australia majoring in marketing communication. Her experience spans over 20 years as a senior executive in brand, retail, and franchise development across global emerging markets in Asia, The Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe. She is also board advisor at the Asia Pacific Chief Marketing Officer Council (CMO), advisor to Project 844 under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam on startup & innovation, chairwoman of Vietnam Business Angel Network, and chairwoman of Saigon Innovation Hub. Phi Van is 2015 award winner of Retail Leadership presented by Asia Retail Congress, and 2017 & 2018 award winner of 100 Top Great Retail Minds presented by World Retail Congress, and 2019 award winner of ASEAN Outstanding Business. Phi Van is the author of five books, “Franchising – The Short Route to Global Markets”, “Cross The Rice Field, Reach The World”, “Go Global: An MSME’s guide to global franchising”, and “I, The Future and The World”, and “In Search of Myself”.


Mr. Paul Barbone – Director Franchise Operation Asia, Segafredo

A proud Vancouverite, Paul started his career in advertising agencies working with prominent accounts like McDonald’s Restaurants.  Since then, he has accumulated more than 30 years of experience developing F&B brands, at many levels, globally.  A majority of his career has been centred in Canada and the Middle East in a multitude of Business, Marketing & Franchising roles for Burger King Restaurants, Second Cup Coffee and Tony Roma’s Restaurants.  He is a successful, proven expert in brand development & multi-unit business management across many F&B categories, including casual dining, QSR & specialty coffee; with a track record of growing brands & their profitability, developing talent, and guiding small- to mid-sized management teams.

 

Paul is currently based in Asia and leading the franchise expansion of the Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group S.p.A., a world leader in the production and marketing of roasted coffee and several premium brands and related products, distributed globally in 100+ countries.

 

Paul Barbone is a graduate from Simon Fraser University in Canada, with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications & Business Economics.


Mr. Troy Franklin – COO of World Franchise Associates

More than 25 years of experience in senior executive positions in international franchising and business development working directly with and consulting for both franchisors and master franchisees and spanning across more than 70 countries and multiple regions including extensive experience in the Asia Pacific Region and across the Indian-Sub Continent, Middle East, Europe and parts of Africa.


Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung – Executive Director of RMS, Nielsen Vietnam

Dzung has a passion for making businesses better by providing market & consumer understanding. He is a person who is passionate about understanding both current and future market trends and how this impacts consumer behavior. Having worked in multiple markets in US, China, India, Singapore and Vietnam, he is a respected industry expert who has presented to the C Suite of many major companies and at industry events. Driving some of the leading FMCG companies in terms of their strategic decisions for both today, but more importantly, for future growth. Dzung has strong track record of building great teams with long term sustainable success.

Albert Kong, CFE, CMC, Senior PMC CEO of Asiawide Franchise Consultants Pte Ltd

Albert is the CEO of Asiawide Franchise Consultants and has more than 30 years of franchising experience. When he was Group Marketing Manager with a public-listed company (1988), that company bought a pizza franchise business. He then became GM Marketing for a subsidiary of a listed company that was the franchisee of Starbucks, Burger King, Orange Julius and Dairy Queen in 1989. He was later headhunted to become the GM of a franchise consulting company in 1990. Via a MBO, he bought over the business and operated a master franchise from the UK for 11+ years (1991-2002) and set up Asiawide Franchise Consultants Pte Ltd (name change) in November 2003.

Having spoken in 47 countries over 300 times concerning franchising, he has also been interviewed more than 200 times by media companies around the world. Albert also co-wrote a book called “Developing and Managing a Franchise” published by LexisNexis (USA), and launched by Mr. Vivian Balakrishnan, the current Foreign Minister of Singapore. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Asia Franchise & Business Opportunities magazine (launched by then Dy CEO of the Singapore Trade Development Board) which is the world’s only English-Chinese bilingual franchise magazine published since March 28, 1994.


Mdm. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung – Chairwoman, PNJ

PNJ Chairwoman Cao Thi Ngoc Dung is known as a talented female general of Vietnam’s jewelry industry when she successfully built and successfully developed PNJ from a district gold and silver store after 31 years of becoming a digital retailer. 1 of Asian jewelry industry, thereby bringing Vietnam’s jewelry industry to the peak of the continent jewelry industry.
With faith, effort and prestige, whether as a businesswoman, or Vice President of VAWE, President of HAWEE, Ms. Dung always achieved achievements, recognized by many domestic and international organizations. with a series of awards: honored by JNA, Lifetime Achievement for Asian Jewelry Industry, Forbes Asia honored Top 40 most influential women in Asia, twice successively honored by Forbes Vietnam The most influential woman in Vietnam, Anphabe was awarded the Asia HRD Award in the category “Contribution to Organization” (Contribution to Organization), CSRWorks International honored the Top Women in Sustainable Development. Mr. Eckart Dutz – GD Pacific Partners (Brand: Uncle Bills)

Eckart is General Director of Pacific Partners (VN), Ltd., a Sourcing Company specialized in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (Food and Nonfood). That includes export activities to  Markets in the Pacific Islands as well as the import of Nonfood products (Sole agent for UBL China) to Vietnam. Most recently he has opened a Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City (www.theloop.vn) . He came to Vietnam in 1995 and has worked from 1996 – 2004 for Unilever in Vietnam, Thailand, Netherlands, Germany in various Supply Chain positions. Most recently as Regional Supply Chain Manager for Ice Cream for South East Asia.

Eckart received a PhD in Supply Chain Management from Mannheim University (Germany) and a Diploma in Business Administration as well as a Post Graduate Degree (Lic.rer.pol.) in International Economics. He is Co-Founder of the Vietnam Supply Chain (www.vietnamsupplychain.com)  and previously on the Boards of Advisors of the Vietnam Supply Chain Council as well as an Advisor to the Sourcing & Purchasing Club Vietnam. Furthermore he is Lecturer for the Executive MBA Programs of the RMIT and the Vietnam National University as well as Eastern International University in Binh Duong.
